This past year certain trends have caught my eye.  I've seen lots and lots of aqua and red colored quilts.  Orange was seen a lot, too.  Maybe that is why Pantone's color of the year for 2012 is Tangerine Tango!  Yummy :) Another trend, and one I truly love, is embroidery.  My great-grandmother taught me how to sew by hand using cross stitches on checked gingham.  This started my love for hand

My son called this morning to wish me Happy Mothers Day! Instead of flowers or other traditional gifts, he gave me new speakers for my computer. Just a quick post to show off my finished tote. I used fabric from the Nobu line by Kona Bay Fabrics. Yummy!!!! I modified a pattern by Lazy Girl Designs called With Love Tote. It calls for a 1 yd piece of fabric and no batting or other stiffener. I wanted a tote with a little more shape, so I used fusible fleece to back the koi piece and did some very minimal quilting. Here's the top. The kit made 16 in blocks and called for 6 to make a crib size. I made 7 blocks and then dug out some plaid to make 2 more and added a 4 in border. Seems empty, so decided to add some appliqued flowers.
